well, my birthday didn't turn out as bad as i thought it would be, but also not as great as i thought it would be. okay, i know i'm confusing you. hmmm, in short, my birthday was fine, plus we got an ipod nano (white)! :D:D:D hee

okay, the day begun with almost six hours of dancing from 8 to arnd 1.40pm in sch. well,i was beat after that, and my mum had not confirmed whether we were even going out as a family for lunch or something after that (evening was definitely out cos my parents had a function). so i felt pretty disappointed after all the fantasizing on my part (and also my sister's part). my bday had sounded so wonderful with a whole day filled with fun activities! my sis had said that we could go ice-skating in the morning, den go on a shopping spree after lunch to get her prom stuff and of course to buy any other thing (haha, if my mum would allow) that we fall in love with while window shopping! but it seemed that all hopes were dashed when my mum told me of their function, and when i remembered that there was dance for at least 5 hours! when my mum later added that we may not even be able to go out for a meal, or at the most, have lunch downstairs (at anchorpt), i was rather crestfallen.

but in the end it wasn't too bad! even though i ended dance late, my family was nice enough to still go out on a special lunch date with me :) my bro didn't go though, cos he went to play billiards with his frens. so we went to funan, cos we had quite a bit of vouchers (collected earlier on when we bought a new laptop for my bro), which had to be spent by a stipulated time. yup, so we made our way to swensen's and had a pretty good meal there, used up the vouchers and...(yes! there's still a follow up! :D ) we went to purchase our very first ipod - the ipod nano!!! although it's only 2GB (cos our dad only agreed to that price range), me and my sis were still estatic :)

now, i shall promise not to ever ill-treat our ipod, whether conciously or unknowingly, in anyway. of course i've not mistreated my zen micro on purpose, but i certainly caused its permanent impairment..sigh :( so now i'll take extra extra care of our precious ipod!

thank you everyone too for the birthday wishes! i'm really appreciative of the gesture! :))) i should be anyway, cos i tend to forget birthdays :x i'll do my best to remember them though, now that i feel how great it is to have ppl remember and wish u a happy birthday even if some may not be your closest pals!

oh, and of course, happy birthday to angie and liu qin too! happy 17th bday! (yesyesyes, they've the same wonderful birthday as me. heehee :D )

haha, my bday's one day away! sigh, wanted to post my very own wish list sooner, but my troublesome internet was down! :( so well, i'm gonna post now :)

my wish list:
(actually it's just stuff that i hope to get. doesn't mean i want them for my bday)

1. ipod nano! (doesn't everyone want one?)

2. pull over (maybe off shoulder? saw some nice stuff in fox. maybe they've wat i want..? will go check it out some day, hopefully when there's a sale)

3. mascara (hope to replace my current clumpy one)

4. shorts (i could use some casual-looking shorts, or maybe even some denim ones? dunno..will know when i see wat i want)

5. tank top (hmm, i guess i wouldn't mind a suitable one..)

6. thin belt? (i saw an elegant thin white belt at espirit earlier on..it looked quite gd! but i haven't tried it on. maybe some day..)

7. pen eraser (my current one is malfunctioning)

8. file/folder (those w/o much or any pockets, with a zip, and wider than A4 size. i've dissected my campbell bk, so i need a suitable file for me to carry along the dissected parts when needed!)

9. balletshoe-like socks (okay, i dunno its proper name. it's those socks that when worn, look like ballet shoes. i bought a new pair of sporty-looking shoes, and they're v low cut, so i need some low cut socks too)

oh no! realised that i sound v hungry for material goods! :(

anw, i've a very sad piece of news to share...i've got dance prac tmr in sch! that means i've got dance prac on my bday!! sigh. hopefully i still can celebrate after that by having lunch with my family? or friends? and maybe go shopping with my sis to pick up stuff for her prom nite - that's if she's not stuck at the com, playing war craft or sth with my bro lah.

oh yes, my sister was quite sweet yesterday. she bought me a range of artist's coloured chalks (hehe, sounds so gao1 ji2) as well as some fabric paint for me for my bday. the chalks are really nice, and they look rather pro! too bad i'm not some great artist. haha, i can never get my proportions right. oh, i drew a pic using the chalks. will post it up soon!

my bones are still creaking away since yesterday's dance practice, which lasted for an unbelievable 5 hours!!! oh mann. so i didn't go for dance at hkhk today. far too weary, and one of leg's injured. sighh.

i'm certain that i worked and strained every possible muscle in my body except for my facial muscles, though i don't know how. every nook and cranny seems to ache - my shoulders, back, tummy, sides, butt, thighs, calves, and even, ribs! i don't think i'll be able to figure out how my ribs can end up hurting. hmmm, unless i strained the internal and external intercostal muscles(ha, secondary bio). but that doesn't make sense!

oh, i just realised that there's one part that doesn't hurt - my arms. guess it's becos we did mainly jumps, so there wasn't much utilization of the biceps and triceps. we also did quite a bit of rolling, so i've bruises on my arm and knee too. bleah. i've spent the entire day lumbering feebly around the house.

frankly, yesterday's dance practice felt rather like a gym session; we were made to do cartwheels, handstands and lots of jumps by our ex-senior, who is at least 3-4 yrs older than us. he - yes, he - is the only male in chi dance in hc's history. i don't think there were any other male dancers. anw, back to the practice. he was a little more demanding and strict on the ji4 qiao3 (the more acrobatic stuff), and he made us learn a set of steps and perform them, alone, in front of everyone(when we haven't really grasped the movements and music yet). it wasn't sth tt we were accustomed to, so initially it was a little frightening. but i guess it's good practice - it forces u to perform each time u practice. quoting him: "what's the difference between performances and rehearsals? they're no different from each other!"

whether i like it or not, i/we chi dancers will have to accept and get used to his teaching style - at least for another 1-2 mths cos after he's done with our cny dance, he won't be teaching us anymore (unless we call him up to choreograph another dance for us).

okayy. my muscles are still tense and throbbing, and it's getting late. guess i should hit the sack soon!

i should be back tmr to make a bday wish list! my bday's next wk! :D

those tantalising chocolates...aren't they terribly tempting..? ooh..the smooth and creamy fillings that simply melt in your mouth..savour the richness...

yesyesyes! i've finally revamped and repackaged my whole blog! all thanks to my sis! :)
my sis - the web pro! thank youu! hee. yep, layout and html stuff handled mainly by my sis, aren't they nice? :):) so well, wat did i do? haha, not much - as usual. i did the design of the delicious mosaic, that's all. and the roll over effects - with the help of my sis, of course.

i'm soo glad my blog's finally all done up, except for the two links: links and gjy. not to worry, i (haha, or maybe my sis) will be making the required changes later :)

pls tell me if u like the new layout! and don't forget to try out the roll overs..besides the roll overs for the 'photos', 'links', and 'gjy', there's also a surprise for the last piece of luxurious array of chocolates :D haha, actually it's not that grreat a surprise lah.

i'm just excited, that's all! :)

danced till i dropped - that's wat i've been doing for the past five days excluding wed and thu. had mad on thu, fri, sat, mon, and tue! was supposed to have chi dance on wed, hehe, but i didn't go. too tired la. anyway they didn't do much. sun was gone in a flash too cos i had dance at hokkien huay kuan. oh well, actually some days practices quite slack, but cos i was down with a cold (kept sneezing continuously) and there were 2 competitions and a performance, we ended pretty late on some days.

if u've seen the poster hanging in front of the dance studio, u will know about the dance comp held at youth park. ha, we were trashed anw. but it was a last min thing lah, didn't noe we were going to participate until like thu! yup, so we didn't prepare for it. i must admit tho that the contestants were quite strong, cos the category was the open cat - anyone can join. u can simply set up your own grp. but frankly, even if we were last (altough we weren't - we were 2nd last, ha), i think we should have won the Decent Award 2005. we were the only grp that didn't reveal our midriffs other than one more other grp! many female contestants we wearing tubes and sport bras only. we were considered really underdressed. oh well, it's good experience anw.

moving on to the other comp. it was the clean and green wk comp held at suntec on tue. there were only 2 pathetic participating grps for our cat, but we won second - meaning last. boohoo. i heard that the judge is a modern dance tr at scgs, so i think she prefers the jazz genre. maybe she doesn't exactly appreciate our sort of hiphop dance. but i must also admit that we were quite messy, cos there were a lot of last min changes made. one of our members couldn't make it, so formations had to be changed. also, we had to include props and a little change in choreography in order to make the dance more relevant to being clean and green! our costumes were also changed to white and green for the purpose. we even cut up our tops cos the rules stated that used materials are to be utilized! but i thought it was quite a pity seeing new and proper clothes being snipped into rags.

oh, and on tue itself, we also participated in A12's (if i got tt right) concert later in the evening. their concert was pretty cute, but i only caught the first half, cos later we had to go back stage to prepare. before we made our appearance on stage, me and limen were hiding behind the curtains, watching the performance. it was some piano recital as their class video was being flashed on screen. the music was soothing and touching, and suddenly, both of us felt quite sad that it would most likely be our last time performing with mad. sigh. although it's only been five days of dancing together, both of us had the feeling that we've been through a lot with mad. we aren't that close yet, but i'm sure we grew closer to them. so it's really sad that we will gradually drift apart just after growing closer. initially, i sort of felt that some of them were a little intimidating, but after getting to know them better, many of them seemed very nice and friendly :)

i'll miss mad...

Y7:49 AM

wow! it's been a loong time since i blogged...

haha, actually there's really nothing to 'wow' about cos it's not much of a surprise really.

okayy. first, let me touch on wat i did since last last wk. ha.

oral presentation for pw ended on 7 nov (mon), and we finally completed out pw journey on tue, after handing in our grp file with all our individual pieces of work inside! yeah! op wasn't exactly a success. oh well. and so on the 8th, after submission and washing our hands off increasingly sickening pw, we went on a foursome foodtrip!

foursome foodtrip #1:
participants - huixuan, pam, tiff and me :)
total no. of stops - 5
total no. of hrs - 6 hrs!!!

haha, couldn't believe we had our mouths munching away on food for 6 hrs! okay. not for 6 hrs, but we started our trip at 12 plus and ended t 6 plus! our destinations included: adam's rd, holland v, chinatown, little india, and jln kayu. and we began our tasting adventure with adam's rd!

1st stop: adam's rd
we contemplated on having nasi lemak, but due to the differing taste of pam, we then settled on prawn mee. the mee was a little too dry for my liking, but the soup was fabulous! v prawny and adequately tasty. yum! we also ordered a sugar cane drink, which huixuan suspected was a phoney, ha, cos she hadn't tried sugar cane that tasted like that. but pam verified that it was sugar cane all right. the drink tasted quite pleasant, so we all sipped on it anyway.

2nd stop: holland village
yep! we stopped for a goldmine cheesecake at nydc, but before that, we were approached by a 'tony and guy' trainee hairdresser who wanted to use huixuan as his model! he striked some sort of weird deal - he'll give hx a free straight haircut, w/o any layering (i dun think tt will look gd on hx!) , and subsequently layering, if she desires so, all free. condition is that hx has to be his model i think for a couple of months. and she has to keep going back! (thought it sounded quite ridiculous). his smoking in front of us and the way his lips curled at times as he spoke made his motives even more dubious. so we quickly dismissed his offer. phew! oh yes, back to the cake. the cheesecake was substantial enough (i love the heavy sort), but sadly, the base was not biscuity enough. the relatively large chunks of chocolate hidden within the base sort of compensated for this though.
we met joce at the bus stop as we waited for half an hr for the stoopid bus!

3rd stop: chinatown
i certainly felt like a tourist as we walked along the streets peppered with many small stalls. and we felt like we were in china! haha. we proceeded to yum cha upon reaching, but alas, we were not fortunate enough to have a taste of the delectable dian xins there. sigh, cos of a power failure! once we entered the restaurant, it blacked out! wat luck. ha, but we managed to take a few sips of the fragrant crysanthemum tea and finished a small plate of peanuts :) i love peanuts! having had no fate with yum cha, we left in search of another dian xin restaurant. so we came to lao shang hai. it was rather quiet though. the restaurant at that time only housed another group of customers (a family of 3) other than us. the food was quite nice, but we felt that some dishes were not up to yum cha's standard. certain dishes also weren't heated up long enough. it was warm, not piping hot like it should be.

4th stop: little india
varnakuum! (dunno how to spell) yesyes, we took the mrt to little india, and the pretty overwhelming scents at the station welcomed us to little india! it's been some time since i've been there. the food at the tandoori restuarant was good! we had a curry chicken, cheese naan (generous amts of cheese, i must say), poori, and..and sth else, i forgot. it's similar to prata, except that it's much less oily?

5th/last stop: jalan kayu
we had prata and prata and more pratas. we ordered the usual egg, a sinful ice-cream prata and tissue prata. and also a terribly sweet bandung. we wanted to try the milo dinosaur - luckily we didn't! we were all quite bloated after all the food! 11 dishes in all. (hope i got that right)

so that was the end of the eventful food trip!
